Work and development after maternity leave? How to reconcile the role of Mom with professional ambitions and not lose energy? Marta's story will show how she managed to find a balance between work life and motherhood without giving up her own development.

Being a fighter. History of Marty

Looking through the notes of a conversation with Marta, I see how her life story combines work experience with passion. Working for companies like Danone, AstraZeneca or CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is not only a career path, but also a path full of thought and inspiration. Marta Kamińska — my interlocutor today — is a person whose career path deserves attention, full of important moments that show what really shapes her professional life.

From an early age, Marta faced challenges that allowed her not only to achieve professional success, but also to develop a strong character. Systematics, planning and determination help her achieve both short-term goals and far-reaching dreams. Today Marta inspires others with her perseverance and ability to face difficulties, all with a smile on her face. However, was her path straight? We will talk about this in today's interview to learn about Marta's motivations and the secrets of her achievements, which can become an inspiration for each of us.

Jobs Door: Marta, how do you define “fighter”? Who is such a person?

Martha: “Fighter” is a person who is not afraid to realize her dreams, even when she encounters difficulties. This is someone who faces challenges, looking for solutions, and takes failures as a valuable lesson. Being a fighter also means being able to step out of your comfort zone and take risks, knowing that true growth requires effort, determination and time.

Jobs Door: What made you a fighter? Is it the result of experiences that have shaped you, or have you always had that personality?

Martha: I have always loved challenges because I believe they are the key to real growth. Every decision to change jobs, however difficult, brought excitement and opened up new opportunities. My husband, who always supports me, often recalled the words of Prof. Jacek Walkiewicz, the meaning of which I carry deep within me:”Some trains only come once.”. These words were a motivation for me to make bold decisions, to go beyond the established patterns and to take on new challenges. My intuition also played an important role, which is of great importance to me at such moments. And although kEvery change involved a lot of effort — it required learning new processes, meeting new people and adapting to different systems, but it was these difficulties that gave me the energy to continue building my professional competence.

Jobs Door: What was your professional journey like?

Martha: My professional path is more than 10 years, from consulting to the purchasing department, where I have been pursuing my goals for 8 years. I currently hold the role of Global Sourcing Manager in an international company. Every day I face challenges on a global scale, and this role gives me great satisfaction and the opportunity to continue to grow — both professionally and personally.

Jobs Door: What key moments in your life have shaped your path?

Martha: There have been several key moments in my life that have had a huge impact on both my professional and personal journey. One of the first experiences was going to study under the Erasmus program. It was a real school of life — going to a foreign country, encountering a new culture and learning to be independent (I strongly encourage young people to take this opportunity). Then moving to Warsaw, Meeting my husband and working in various organizations — from Polish to international — are moments that changed my life. It was especially important to meet extraordinary people: my sister-in-law, who was my support during my studies, and an inspiring manager during my time at Danone, who gave me the opportunity to grow and be autonomous when I needed it most. The memories of that time will stay with me forever. Also, difficult moments, such as working two jobs, were a valuable lesson. Although they brought many difficulties, today I know that they finally had a positive impact on my life. And of course, the unforgettable moment I became a mom — an experience that changed my life forever.

Jobs Door: How do you combine the role of mom with job responsibilities?

Martha: Being a mom and pursuing myself professionally is a balance for me that I'm still trying to perfect. Every day is a new challenge, but also a joy. I want these two roles to complement each other. My work gives me a sense of accomplishment and motivation, and motherhood has taught me patience, empathy and flexibility. Although it is sometimes difficult, I am convinced that both aspects of my life give me strength. In everyday life, conscious time management is key for me — I know when to speed up and when to slow down. Good planning and prioritizing responsibilities are the foundation of my day organization.

An important part of my life is regular physical activity. Taking my child to kindergarten every day, training or a yoga session help me recharge my batteries and relieve stress. I used to lack motivation, especially after work, but now I know that regular exercise gives me a feeling of fullness and helps me take better care of my mental health. Sometimes I just dance to release my emotions and feel better. It's my way of resetting and a moment just for myself. At the same time, I try not to forget the importance of support, so I try to ask for help whenever possible when I feel that I will not be able to do everything on my own. In life, as at work, we do not always have to be perfect, but the key is to be flexible and open to what life brings.

Jobs Door: What is the foundation for you that you always come back to?

Martha: Lately I try to enjoy every moment and appreciate what the day brings. Life is like a rollercoaster — full of ups and downs. I do not strive to be on top all the time, but I find a sense of stability in everyday life. I know that sometimes it is worth stepping outside the comfort zone, because these lessons strengthen us for the future. My foundation, however, is the family — an evening spent with a child whom he loves with boundless love, and a husband who is always by his side. They are the ones who give me a sense of security and strength to face challenges, both in my personal and professional life.

Jobs Door: Marta, your approach to different roles in life is very inspiring. What message would you like to convey to those who seek fulfillment, both at work and in other aspects of life?

Martha: Never give up! Try, try and try again. History shows that it was after many failures that the great achieved their successes. Although we often hear about the constant struggle, I believe that not every person has to follow the same path. Fulfillment can be found in the different roles and passions that shape our lives. It doesn't always have to be big battles to feel like a winner.

Professional passion for me is the moment when what we love meets the needs of other people. This is when our talents, interests and desires take on real meaning. Passion doesn't always come right away — each of us has time to discover what we really want to do. However, fulfillment does not always come in the form of professional achievements. Sometimes it is the life we create around ourselves, supporting others, that gives us real value. Any role — professional, family or social — can be a source of satisfaction if we carry it out with full commitment and passion.

I would particularly like to highlight the role of the parent, whose importance is invaluable. Raising children, especially without the support of grandparents or nannies, is a huge challenge. Parents not only provide their children with care, clothing, food and education, but above all they offer them love, care and create space for their development. I have great respect for those who take on this difficult but extremely important role. Their strength, commitment and determination deserve the highest recognition, especially since I know perfectly well what it is like to return to the job market after maternity leave - it is not only a professional challenge, but also an emotional one.
